All catering is being done by Isabel's Restaurant, one of Burlington's finest restaurants.

September 23rd:

If you're an out-of-towner and planning on being in Vermont the night before the wedding, Steve's mom is providing dinner for you. You're on your own for breakfast the next day, although the hotels that we've recommended will give you breakfast as part of the package.

Dining in the area:

If you're planning on staying in the area for any period of time, we've collected a list of our favorite places to eat. We've got tastes that are far beyond our means, so you should be fine choosing any of the restaurants listed below. When planning your meals, remember that this weekend is going to be a very busy one in Burlington, with lots and lots of toursits, so make reservations early - months in advance is not overkill, if they'll let you.

If you're in the Burlington area and looking for someplace to have a nice dinner, we recommend Sirloin Saloon (sounds like a dump based just on the name, but turns out to be a very nice restaurant, and has fantastic teriyaki sirloin), at (802)985-2200 - they're near the hotels we recommend. Also in the area is Pauline's (862-1081), which can be expensive but is probably worth it. For seafood, try Perry's (862-1300), but remember that Vermont does not have any oceanfront property, so the fish is driven in from somewhere else.

In the downtown area, on Church Street, Sweetwaters (864-9800) has good food and a nice atmosphere - American food. Sweet Tomatoes (660-9533) has good Italian food. The best restaurant downtown is probably Trattoria D'Elia (864-5233). On the waterfront, you'll find a number of restaurants overlooking the lake - our favorites are Isabel's (the caterers~ 865-2522), Mona's (658-6662 - ask for a table upstairs by the window), the Dockside (864-5266), and the Icehouse (864-1800).

If you're in Stowe, you can dine at the best restaurant in all of Vermont, and we have no fear of contradiction on this. It's called Villa Tragara (244-5288) - it's Northern Italian, and outstanding. A little less expensive is Miguel's Stowe-Away (253-7574), which is a nationally-known Mexican restaurant.

If you're staying in the Islands, the only decent place to eat is Shore Acres - we often travel to the Islands just to eat there. Their number is 372-8722.

If you choose to stay in Plattsburgh, it probably means that you waited too long to make a reservation in Burlington, and we don't feel sorry for you. We also have no idea if there's anywhere there that has good food or not.
